Diferent names and versions for the setup files.

    Hi Marc.

As I posted in other thread I suggest using differente names for the challenge kits... and also with date...

    as:

    challengeName_versionMonth_versionday.exe

    sumo_08_20.exe

    amazed_05_28_exe

I now have many setup.exe files in my machine and I really do not know who are they hehehehe...

It is true that I should rename files when I download it (I`m doing it now), but I do not know if the setup.exe is a new version or not and if it is for the right Challenge hehe. So diffent names for the setup file should make things easier for some people (at least for me hehe).

I know that this is not a RoboChamps issue, but I think that you should suggest that each MRDS version would be installed in a different default folder, like MRS.

I had MRS 1.0, MRS 1.5 and MRS 1.5 May in my machine working with different respective MRS packages.

If each MRDS version install in a different folder and all packages for that version too, we should have no problems with new MRS releases.

Complementing, I also suggest that older MRDS releases be available for download. This way a newcomer should just download compatible MRDS and packages to try an older challenge. And you will not need to "upgrade" the packages to new MRDS versions.

Again, I know that this is not a RoboChamps issue, but I think that you should consider asking for this....

As you noted, these are not RoboChamps issues.

Each new official release of MRDS has had a different default folder. However, during CTPs the folder name might not necessarily change.

The policy is that only the most recent previous official release is kept online. On the other hand, when a new CTP comes out, previous ones are no longer available. You should note that V1.5 is still available as it is the most recent official release.

The problem here is chasing changing CTPs. RoboChamps is an advanced concept, and Marc needed some of the new features to help him get the code to work. This has unfortunately resulted in dependencies on "transient" versions that will not be available once the official V2.0 ships.

Meanwhile Marc does his best to keep up to date with the CTPs and I expect that he will update the code for the final release of 2.0.

    Trevor
